Well, here we are again at the end of October and Halloween is upon us. Do you decorate your house for Halloween? I always thought it was just an American thing, but it seems to be catching on here in the UK more and more especially for the little ones. I don’t really like the idea of “Trick or Treating” – it doesn’t seem right to me for children to go round knocking on strangers doors asking for treats. But maybe that is just me, what do you think – is it just harmless fun?
Anyway, I thought you might like this little poem that I wrote about how working witches get together to celebrate Halloween each year.
Life is hard for a working witch when Halloween is on its way
They can ask to have some time off – but will only get a day
They usually are hardworking, and never take a break
Except to have a little snack, washed down with green milkshake
They are getting quite excited, looking forward to the date
To fly off on their broomsticks and hope they’re not too late
To meet the other witches, all done up in their best
The meeting place a little vague – just fly towards north-west!
The witches will all gather, on a mountain somewhere high
And laugh and joke and whizz around across the midnight sky
And then as dawn is breaking there’s a change of atmosphere
They wave goodbye and journey home to work another year.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the poem and Halloween in general, so do please leave your comments.
Bye for now.
